This led to a terrible court case. Though the judge never sentenced her, he taught her a lesson.

According to Ali, the judge postponed her case and asked her to come back in two weeks. Till then she was locked up. It was then her misconception of being an adult met reality. She again turned into a helpless child, calling her mummy for help.

What did Laila Ali realize then?

According to Laila’s mother, it was the best thing that ever happened because she needed this lesson. Before this, Ali was disrespecting her mother, stealing her car, and doing whatever she wanted to do.

“I came back two weeks later and that two weeks seemed like months and months and months. I came back, and he left me at the court in the back room all day, didn’t see my case, and sent me back for another two weeks. I thought I was going to die. He did that a few more times and finally, when I came back, I was just ready to just, “Please just get me out of here, “, Ali said.

Next, she said, “That’s when they sent me to a group home. I was happy to go to a group home at that point. Having your freedom taken away is unlike anything else you can possibly imagine.”
