The pugilist-turned promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, might be one of the most interesting personas in boxing. Apart from the athletic circuit, De La Hoya also seems to have witnessed several sides of life, both good and bad. Having lost his mother at an early age, the former champion suffered several adversaries in life.

However, he transformed himself into one of the finest boxers in a career, which saw glory and controversy simultaneously. That said, the 48-year-old recently looked back at one of his experiences with psychedelic substances to stun the fans. In a chat with Mike Tyson, ‘The Golden Boy’ revealed his experience with mushrooms.

“I closed my eyes, Mike, I turned into like, I turned into like a substance. I got out of my body, I turned into a substance. And I started floating like in the galaxy. Then all of the sudden, I dived into the ocean, Okay? I dived into the ocean and I am just like water. I don’t know what I am, I dived, and it’s beautiful. It’s like fu** ‘Finding Nemo’,” said Oscar De La Hoya.

Mike Tyson seemed quite amused by ‘Golden Boy’s experience. This is a sentiment that many fans may share.

Akin to a 55-year-old Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya has also announced his comeback at the age of 48. But who will he face and when will the bout take place?

When will Oscar De La Hoya return?

After his last professional bout in 2008, De La Hoya will now come back in September to take on a former UFC fighter Vitor Belfort inside the boxing ring. The exhibition bout will reportedly help ‘The Golden Boy’ get into the groove before he goes for the bigger fights.

During his chat with Tyson, the ex-champion also claimed that he is looking for a real 12-round fight against either Canelo Alvarez or Floyd Mayweather. Hence, the impending return might be a ticket to bring back De La Hoya into the professional side of the sport. However, the decision can also turn out to be costly.
