In the latest episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion of the world hosted Grant Cardone, the CEO of Cardone Capital. Besides Cardone Capital, it is worth mentioning that Grant owns seven private companies and different assets worth over $4 Billion. While he currently rules a $4 Billion empire, the globally admired entrepreneur once faced severe poverty.
With ‘Kid Dynamite’ eager to learn Grant’s story, the 65-year-old recounted his life after his father’s demise. Speaking to Tyson and co-host DJ Whoo Kid, Cardone not only expressed the emptiness that he dealt with following his father’s death, but the investor also explained how his mother struggled with the breadwinner of their family gone. As Tyson and Whoo Kid listened, here’s what Cardone said.

With attentive Mike Tyson by his side, Grant Cardone explained that his dad, Curtis Louis Cardone was a conservative who tried to “break into the middle class“. According to Cardone, his father took care of the one car they had and the house they lived in. However, when Curtis Cardone was 52 years old, he had a sudden heart attack. “We had one car paid for. The house was paid for. He did everything right and then his heart blew up at 52,” recounted the CEO of Cardone Capital.
After Curtis Cardone passed away, Grant Cardone excruciatingly missed his father’s absence. Growing up in Louisiana, without his father teaching him to fish or hunt, he thought he was a nobody. “Five kids, and I’m sitting there. Man, I wanted a dad. I needed a dad to teach me. I grew up in Louisiana. So, I needed to learn how to fish and hunt. I felt like I was a nobody,” added Grant. While Tyson patiently listened, Grant even recalled how his mother struggled with five kids in the wake of her husband’s death.

Cardone’s mother had to sell their house
Since Curtis Cardone was the only breadwinner of the family, Grant Cardone’s mother was clueless following her husband’s untimely death. Without knowing where the money would come from for the sustenance of their children, she finally decided to sell their house. “So, my dad thought he had done everything right. But, the truth is the day he died. Thursday, he died, my mom was selling the house on Monday,” said the 65-year-old. “Four days later, she’s dumping stuff. She doesn’t know where the money is coming from, she’s got five kids to take care of,” Grant told Tyson who called his own father a “preacher/pimp“.
