When we talk of the best fighters in the sport right now, Terence Crawford is a name that will inevitably pop up. Crawford secured a devastating victory against Errol Spence Jr, knocking him out in the ninth round. With all this in mind, only a handful of fighters will want to go against Crawford in a ring. One of these fighters is none other than the WBO Super Lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.

Lopez and Terence Crawford have been beefing it out on social media and taking digs at each other during interviews. Crawford had responded to Lopez’s provocations by saying Last I recall your the only one in a fucked up situation with TopRank go cry me a river.” and accusing him of trying to avoid a fight with him. Lopez took it further calling out Crawford for taking easy opponents. How has the P4P king responded?

In a recent interview with Boxing Social, Lopez called Crawford out on choosing “handicapped” opponents for a fight. Lopez said, “The fighters Crawford fought were handicapped. Errol Spence just announced about his cataract in his eye. Jose Benevidez Jr when he fought him, he had a shot leg.”

Lopez proceeded to mention other fighters who have had injuries and fought Terence Crawford. He said, “I’m healthy. Fight the best fighter at a healthier weight.” To all of this, Crawford replied with a tweet on X. Crawford mocked Lopez saying, “Yea I need 3 surgeries that I haven’t got so do that makes me handicap as well?” talking of how he is suffering from injuries as well.

It is evident that the two fighters have a very different definition of what being handicapped is. Maybe this and many other differences of opinion will finally convert their verbal battle into a real one. However, their fight will have to be on hold as Spence Jr calls for a rematch against the unified champion.

Errol Spence Jr to fight against his biggest rival again

During their first fight in July, Crawford knocked Spence down three times before the stoppage in the ninth round. After the fight, Spence triggered his rematch clause and is set to fight Crawford again, confirmed by his trainers. While, the when and where of the fight are not known yet, it is a given that it will happen.

According to the clause, it is Crawford’s decision whether he wants to fight at 147 pounds or move up to 154 pounds. The latter is a weight that is new to both fighters. As the two rivals set to meet in the ring again, who do you think will come out victorious this time? Will Crawford secure yet another dominant victory? Or will Spence come back making the score even for both of the fighters?
