It’s been a year since the boxing world has seen Deontay Wilder get inside the ring. After his third loss against Tyson Fury, Wilder took a year’s break but then came back to deliver a devastating first-round knockout to Robert Helenius. Many thought that the beloved ‘Bronze Bomber’ was back, but the celebration didn’t last long, as he went on a year-long break again. However, there are talks about how Wilder is going to make a return in the ring, and that too against the former 2x unified world Heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, claimed that both parties have “agreed the deal” in an interview with Seconds Out. At first, the fight was scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in December, but Hearn stated that the offer has been withdrawn as of now. So, they’re looking for different options. But sooner or later, the fight between Wilder and Joshua will happen. Amidst all this, Wilder decided to take some time out for his family.

In his recent Instagram post, the love can be felt through the screen. He can be seen playing volleyball in his backyard with his kids. It’s a beautiful dim light picture, where Wilder is facing the other, and his kids can be seen further on the volleyball court. In the caption, he beautifully wrote, “I missed them so much that it makes this volleyball game that much more exciting.”
Wilder has always kept his family first, in most situations. Even after his last fight against Robert Helenius, Wilder thought about his opponent’s family and teared up thinking about the dreadful consequences that the sport of boxing has.
Wilder speaks on the importance of family
Deontay Wilder got emotional after he managed to put down his opponent with just three punches. The former WBC champion stated how boxing is a dangerous sport, and anything can happen at any time. He even explained it with the example of Prichard Colon‘s case. Colon suffered a subdural hematoma, due to some illegal punches on the back of his head.

Wilder said, “They don’t understand, they need to understand what we go through man, and I don’t even know [Prichard Colon] like that, but he’ll always be an advocate for us. This man won’t ever know what it’s like to be someone’s father and that’s the most precious thing in the world to be somebody’s father.” So, he wants people to understand that the boxers are risking their lives for a performance, and they need to be respected for it. He also added, “We don’t know if Robert will be the same after this, I just did a job.”
