Arnold Schwarzenegger has a long resume, starting from bodybuilding, he soon made his way to Hollywood and even entered the world of politics. The life of the Austrian-American actor has been a success through and through. He gained worldwide fame as a bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Olympia contest seven times. Moreover, he has starred in films like “The Terminator” series, “Predator,” and “Total Recall.”
One would think that a man of such renown and a life filled with success would hold no self-doubt and may even be filled with immense self-confidence. However, Schwarzenegger remained humble throughout it all. Moreover, he surprisingly is also not devoid of insecurities as well.

Arnold Schwarzenegger opens up about his insecurities
Arnold Schwarzenegger has never been one to shy away from self-reflection. In a recent interview on the Rich Roll Podcast, he candidly opened up about his flaws and insecurities. Reflecting on his days as Mr. Olympia, Schwarzenegger admitted that he was highly self-critical. Moreover, he stated that he would look in the mirror and see numerous imperfections, from his deltoids not being big enough to his thighs falling short of his expectations.
He revealed the inner dialogue he had with himself, questioning how he could possibly measure up to his own standards. Despite these insecurities, Schwarzenegger had a burning determination to showcase the best physique the world had ever seen.
Moreover, he drew a parallel between his self-doubt and that of the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. He recognized that even someone as iconic as Ali had moments of self-doubt and vulnerability. He stated, “I think that even more mid Muhammad Ali I’m sure that he had his own moments of reality.”

During the interview, he also described Ali as an extraordinary showman who brought immense joy to his sport. He then applauded Ali’s ability to entertain and recall intricate details, such as poetry. Schwarzenegger reminisced about his time with Ali in the 70s when they traveled together across the United States, appearing on various TV shows and interviews. He stated, “He was like he was a showman. Yeah, and Muhammad Ali was just an extraordinary showman who had so much joy in his sport.”

Schwarzenegger has previously compared his achievements in the Bodybuilding community with those of Ali’s. He praised Ali’s work ethic and their shared experiences. In Schwarzenegger’s view, the similarities between himself and Ali extended beyond their public personas. Both men were known for their self-criticism and their determination to overcome their insecurities.
