“I’m Suppose to Be Muslim”: Shakur Stevenson Opens Up on His Religious Beliefs, Reveals His Full Name

Following Gervonta Davis transitioning to Islam and changing his name to Abdul Wahid, Shakur Stevenson has revealed his religious beliefs. More importantly, he even revealed his real name in a recent interview. Stevenson hasn’t been having the greatest of time in the sport of boxing lately. 

Since his fight against Edwin De Los Santos, the 26-year-old boxer has gone and come out of retirement. Not to mention the storm of criticism that pushed him to announce his retirement in the first place. What’s more, even though he has teased a comeback to the ring, nothing concrete has come to light yet. Meanwhile, he decided to speak about his religious beliefs in an interview yesterday with Punsh Drunk Boxing. 

Shakur Stevenson claims he believes in one higher power

Speaking to Mr. Moonshine, Stevenson claimed he doesn’t believe in a specific religion but thinks there’s a higher power. “As of right now, I am living by a code where I feel like there is a higher power. That’s how I look at things like there’s a higher power. I don’t believe in like no super religion or in one person, one religion, and not with the other,” said Stevenson. 

He then went on to claim that he is actually a Muslim and has a different Muslim name. “Truthfully speaking, I am supposed to be Muslim like my name is Ash-Shakur Nafi-Shahid Stevenson,” said Stevenson. His religious beliefs and real name aside, the boxing world has been wondering who he might fight next. One of the prime contenders is Floyd Schofield, and his father thinks it will be easy for Schofield. 

Can Floyd Schofield defeat Stevenson?

Stevenson and Schofield have been going back and forth for a bit now! Stevenson even agreed to fight ‘Kid Austin’ once he defeated an unbeaten fighter. However, when that may happen is anyone’s guess. Meanwhile, Floyd Schofield Sr. has claimed Jr. can beat Stevenson and beat him effortlessly.

In a recent media report, Schofield Sr. stated, “Let me tell y’all. I know Kid Austin will knock Shakur out. When they do fight, I really believe that.” Despite Shakur’s reputation as one of the best defensive fighters, Schofield Sr. thinks, “I really believe, and it’s no disrespect to Shakur, it’s going to be one of the easiest fights of Floyd’s career. It’s going to be easy.”

In an unexpected turn, Shakur Stevenson has revealed his real Muslim name. Despite the revelation, all most boxing fans want to know is when Stevenson would enter the ring again.
