“I Knew That I Would Be Here”: Devin Haney Makes a Heartfelt Admission About His Journey

After his controversial win against Vasyl Lomachenko, Devin Haney needs to decide his next objective. He can either stay at 135 and defend his undisputed title against a deserving challenger or he can move up to 140 and challenge Regis Prograis for his WBC super lightweight title. According to WBC, Haney must make a decision by the 27th of July. While the undisputed lightweight champion decides upon his next fight, it shall be a good time to tread upon Haney’s heartfelt statement about his boxing journey.

After his professional debut in 2015, Haney impressed fans with his fight IQ and skills. Following his victories over the likes of Gamboa, Linares, and Diaz, everyone recognized him as a serious force in the lightweight division of boxing. And in his first fight with the then-unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr, Haney demonstrated a commendable understanding of reach, distance, and his mastery over the basics of boxing. Following his recent success, in a podcast, Haney spoke about his shot and the dream that has come true for him.

Obviously, for Devin Haney, it is a dream come true to be the undisputed lightweight champion in the sport. Whatever the “general consensus” is, speaking about his resume, Haney has defeated a two-time Olympic gold medalist and former unified lightweight champion in the ring. A champion of the lightweight division, Haney is now one of the faces of present-day boxing. Referring to the success he has received, Haney said, “I mean it’s a dream come true.”

However, Haney was confident in his abilities and knew that he would one day occupy the biggest stag in boxing. “But I knew that I would be here,” added Haney. All ‘The Dream’ needed was a chance to prove himself to the world. “I just knew that I needed my shot. Once I got my shot I was gonna take full advantage of it. And it all worked out,” concluded Devin Haney. After 27th July, hopefully, fans will know what is next for Haney in the sport.
