The undisputed Lightweight champion, Devin Haney, retained his WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles after walking through Vasyl Lomachenko with a unanimous decision win, this Saturday night. Although the judges’ scorecard was in Haney’s favor, many fans are calling it a ‘robbery’. Lomachenko was not satisfied with the results and refused to talk about the loss when asked immediately after the winner announcement. Even ‘Loma’s’ team has refused to accept the final decision and has assured the fans that they will fight for justice.
In the early moments of the fight, Haney showed aggression and started the bout with energy. However, ‘Loma’ maintained his distance smartly and zipped in the punches when necessary. In the second half, the fight showed a shift as ‘Loma’ seemed to dominate America’s undisputed champion. It was a close fight, and both fighters played on their strength and held their grit. But in the end, ‘Loma’ seemed really disappointed with the final result of the bout.

It was a tough moment for Vasyl Lomachenko when he heard the judges’ scorecards. In his interview, immediately after the bout, he said, “I don’t want to talk about this. All people see what happened today. I can’t talk about this right now, it’s just not a comfortable moment for me.”
Then he rushed back to his dressing room and there, he was seen breaking down into tears as he was accepting his loss. Lomachenko later revealed in his post-fight interview, why he got this sentimental.
‘Loma’ said, “I just remembered that my son today called me seven times and every time told me, ‘And the new, and the new.’ I remembered this moment, it was very hard for me.” His son wanted him to be the new World Lightweight Champion and encouraged him before the fight. Lomachenko is not done yet though, as his manager stated that they’ll be appealing against the decision and will oppose the decision.

Egia Klimas, ‘Loma’s’ manager, did not agree with the loss and branded the fight as the “biggest robbery in the middle of the day“. And they are not going to take it silently. Klimas declared that they’ll protest against it and make sure that justice comes back home for Lomachenko.
Klimas expressed frustration with the norms of boxing, as he said, “Somebody needs boxing to be put in the place where it has to be.” And then stated that they’ll fight for the right thing, as he believes that judges’ scores were a mockery of ‘Loma’s’ hard work and he wouldn’t let it slide. A lot of big names pitched in and agreed with Klimas, including Canelo Alvarez‘s team and Oscar De La Hoya, who shared a common ground over ‘Loma’s’ loss.
