Can Ryan Garcia reclaim his throne, or will his past controversies overshadow his comeback?

Hints have started dropping now, maybe not by the dozen, but yes, it’s happening. As the boxing world walks towards the Mike TysonJake Paul showdown, faint whispers about one of boxing’s most well-known faces, Ryan Garcia, seem to have surfaced. The latest clue traces its roots back to an Instagram post of the young boxer’s father, Henry Garcia.

The California-born boxer has been through some rough times. Troubles followed the April 20 fight against Devin Haney; reports indicated that Garcia had failed to clear the drug tests stipulated for the fight. As a result, he faced a suspension lasting up to a year alongside a slew of financial penalties. But throughout his absence, ‘KingRy’ ensured an online presence.

Last month, with another six months remaining for his reinstatement, the young boxer dropped in a suggestion. No wonder, many fans who still believe in him joined Henry Garcia’s post, pouring their hearts out. Garcia Senior shared that his son had visited their personal gym and picked a reflex bag for training. The attached clip featured a bare-chested and bare-footed Ryan Garcia throwing some slick shots on the bounce-back bag.

The former interim lightweight champion, wearing a camouflage lower, went for a few combinations, including his famous left hook as well. Interestingly, right in front of him was the iconic photograph from the April 20 fight, where he’s staring down at a knocked-down Devin Haney. A proud father, Henry Garcia said, “As you can see, he hits this bag with ease and precision. Expect to see Ryan back early next year. I will keep you updated. Let’s Goo!” Ryan Garcia, despite all the controversies, is indeed still commanding a die-hard following.

Way to go, Ryan Garcia!

Happy that the icon is just a few months away from a historic comeback, a few penned down their emotions. One fan sounded quite excited about Garcia’s return. Reinforcing their constant support, they highlighted how the young boxer’s absence had been so upsetting. “Let’s go, champ. I can’t wait to see you back in the ring. Boxing is boring without you. We need you back soon!! #TeamRyan 🥊🥊,” the fan said.

Have an interesting take?

Probably the enthusiasm got the better of another user, who even suggested a potential matchup! They wrote, “Aye, let’s get that Ryan and Teo fight that would be incredible!!!” However, some other commenters sounded a bit concerned. Hoping that Ryan Garcia is dealing with his issues, especially the one related to soberness, one enthusiast felt that Garcia seemingly lacked his old drive. Nevertheless, like many, they hoped for his successful comeback: “I hope he’s doing better mentally, and I hope he gets sober. Ryan doesn’t seem to have that fire in his eyes that he once did. I hope he gets unbanned and back in the ring.

Continuing with the lineup suggestions, another fan in the comments felt that perhaps a comeback fight against one of the Vargases should work. Then, ‘KingRy’ might as well avenge his brother’s knockout loss! “I want to see him with one of the Vargas brothers,” they opined. Always sharp 🙌🙌🙌🔥🔥🔥 giving me chills 🙏🏼” praised another follower as they expressed their admiration and support. Given how he continues to inspire, the commenter shared their approval for Ryan Garcia, noting, “always believed in you since day one.

Last month, hyping up the suspense, Garcia called out Teofimo Lopez for his comeback fight. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see—who will he fight when he’s back in April? Will he run it back to Devin Haney, who has filed a lawsuit against him, or will he challenge one of the current title-holders? Perhaps before he goes for a big fight, a small tune-up that will help Garcia get his bearings, might work
