Is Ryan Garcia's reputation taking a hit while Devin Haney gains more respect in the boxing world?

It’s unfortunate for Devin Haney. The Ryan Garcia loss seems to be following him around, even though several months have passed since the fateful night. What happened now? Well, the Victorville native found yet another way of bragging about the fact that he knocked down ‘The Dream’ three times during their clash in April this year in one of the more unique ways.

Now, you must be wondering, what could be this unique way Garcia is poking fun at his rival? KingRy recently shared a short clip on X, showing that when someone googles ‘Devin Haney’ on the search, the first image that pops up is of a knocked-down Haney from their fight. He captioned the clip, “Damn google cold blooded”. However, it’s not all bad for ‘The Dream’ as Caleb Plant and Andre Ward soon jumped in to his defense.

It seems an X user had the same idea as Garcia. The user decided to share the google-search result on the social media platform as well. Soon afterward, boxing veteran and former unified light heavyweight champion Andre Ward found the post floating around and swiftly reminded everyone of Haney’s resilience during the fight and how The Dream responded to getting floored multiple times.

“Don’t forget to mention that he got up every time and finished the fight. Don’t leave that out,” Ward noted. In fact, Haney was officially dropped three times during the fight, but managed to pull himself together and took the fight to the distance. Akin to what Ward wrote, former middleweight champion Caleb Plant also had similar opinions about the search result.

“And each time he got up he got right back to work like nothing even happened…,” Plant commented on Andre Ward’s post. It’s worth mentioning that Garcia later tested positive for Ostarine, a performance-enhancing drug, and was subsequently banned from the sport of boxing for a year. Regardless, while explaining his point, Plant added, “I was like yooooooo…. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen that.”

Praising Devin Haney’s resilience, Plant asserted: “VERY few [people] can do that.” Interestingly, following the fight in April, Garcia got into a physical altercation with ‘Sweethands’, which made headlines. Here’s a recap of what happened between Caleb Plant and Ryan Garcia.

Caleb Plant and Ryan Garcia beer bottle debacle

Back in June, Gervonta Davis locked horns with Frank Martin, and guess who was ringside for the fight. Yep, it was Caleb Plant and Ryan Garcia! Things would have been fine, but Garcia and Plant had exchanged words in the buildup to the Davis-Martin fight. Plant had criticized Garcia’s positive PED test while Garcia was maintaining his innocence.

“Regardless say what you want there wasn’t any amount of ostarine that could’ve helped me beat up Mr Haney,” Garcia wrote on X, which started their back and forth. Plant responded to this, asking, “Then why take it?” This infuriated Garcia, who wrote back, “I didn’t b**ch, watch your mouth”, before making derogatory remarks towards Plant’s wife.

Following this exchange on social media, when the duo came face-to-face during the fight, Plant hurled a bottle of beer at Garcia’s face. This nearly started an all-out brawl, as both men were separated by the security, though they continued hurling insults at each other from a distance. Garcia later proceeded to make other derogatory comments about Plant’s wife on social media once again.

Having said that, even though Devin Haney lost the fight that night, his resilience to keep fighting seems to have earned him a fair amount of admirers. In contrast, even though Ryan Garcia won the fight, his reputation has gone down the drain. In fact, he didn’t even get to keep his win. Did you see the picture? Should Google do something to change it?
