It’s been around 7 months since the world has seen Gervonta Davis inside the ring. Since the time Davis fought against Ryan Garcia, there have been no updates regarding his next fight. Davis knocked ‘KingRy’ out in the seventh round, which opened doors for him to face boxers like Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney. Although there have been discussions about his next opponent, there haven’t been any official announcements regarding his next fight. Currently, Stevenson is preparing for his fight against Edwin De Los Santos in November, while Haney is moving up in weight to face Regis Prograis in December.

As of now, Davis is the one who’s the least active among the top contenders. Still, the boxing legend Roy Jones Jr believes that he’s the most entertaining out of all of them. He even drew similarities between him and Mike Tyson as a boxer. He said, “He’s very powerful, and anything can happen at any time, inside or outside the ring. Tank is a modern-day Mike Tyson.”However, Davis believes his style is a lot different than Tyson’s fighting style.

Gervonta Davis sat down with the Youtuber Funny Marco on his show Open Thoughts. On the show, they talked about various things, and at one point, Marco asked ‘Tank’ whether he felt like “mini Mike Tyson” during his fights. He replied with just one word, “No.” This intrigued the interviewer further and asked him about the difference between the two of them.

To this, Davis responded by saying that he recognized himself as a “boxer-puncher”, while Tyson was a “brawler”. So their styles are completely different, at least when it comes to terminologies. Then Marco asked whether Davis believes he can knock out opponents quicker than Tyson in his fights. Tank explained, “No, I’m not saying that. I’m saying that Mike Tyson got power and skills, I feel as though I have like the whole package. Like I have what Mike Tyson don’t have, you know, I think so.”

On the other hand, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ himself believes that there are some similarities in the way both of them throw punches at their opponents. He even addressed the comparisons in some of the interviews.

Tyson thinks Davis is somewhat similar to him

In an interview with TMZ, Mike Tyson was asked about the comparisons being drawn between him and Davis. He agreed with such statements being made and talked about how Tank’s technique of punching is quite similar to his style. He said, “For him and myself, our stoutness to the ground, as I said before, catapults us like being shot like a bow and arrow and the force is unstoppable.
