The gloves controversy began back in February 2020 when Tyson Fury took down the mighty Deontay Wilder in their second fight. The ‘Bronze Bomber’ accused the ‘Gypsy King’ of loading his gloves with foreign objects, among other things. Since then, the topic has been a major subject of debate among fans and experts alike. The unfounded accusations had died down as time passed. However, it turns out that the same accusations have raised concerns for Francis Ngannou.

Francis Ngannou is scheduled to take on the WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on 28 October. It’s the biggest crossover boxing event since Conor McGregor took on the legendary Floyd Mayweather. Besides, it’s also Ngannou’s debut boxing matchup, and his performance will dictate his future in the sport. So, the ‘Predator’ Ngannou spoke to Joe Rogan about Fury’s alleged cheating controversy in his popular podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience.’ Rogan assured Ngannou that the accusations were baseless. However, Ngannou’s recent appearance in an interview with Boxing Social seems to suggest he is still doubtful.

During the interview with Boxing Social, Matt Lenihan, the reporter, questioned Ngannou about his comments in Rogan’s podcast. “I saw some comments that you made on the Joe Rogan podcast…about Tyson Fury and his gloves and the cheating…wanted to clarify that!” Ngannou promptly addressed the issue, emphasizing that he did not believe in those accusations. “Um, I do not believe,” Ngannou told Matt.

However, Ngannou asserted that he had heard concerns about Fury’s glove situation from a lot of his prior opponents. “I have heard a lot of complaints about his glove from people that he has fought,” Ngannou explained. These complaints from Fury’s opponents raised concerns for Ngannou, and he had to ask Rogan about his opinion on the accusation. “So I raised that issue, just to double check,” Ngannou told Matt.

Mike Tyson compliments Francis Ngannou’s power

Besides Ngannou himself, the biggest name in his corner is Mike Tyson. While Mike is not Ngannou’s head coach, he has added a lot of value to Ngannou’s training camp. What’s more, Mike has previously expressed his confidence in Ngannou’s chances of winning the upcoming fight.
