Television host and comedian Nick Cannon appeared on the latest episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. While talking to Mike Tyson and co-host DJ Whoo Kid, Cannon spoke about how he started his career as a young comic in Hollywood and the figures that helped him. As per Cannon, Jamie Foxx looked out for him in the beginning by providing him with a place to stay and sleep.

While talking about the support from Jamie Foxx, Cannon eventually told Mike Tyson how he received his first deal with Will Smith. In the ’90s, when Nick Cannon was still in his teens and inexperienced, Foxx, Smith, and Quincy Jones came to his rescue and helped him deal with “demonic” Hollywood.

On being asked about his mentors, Nick Cannon informed Mike Tyson and DJ Whoo Kid that he was fifteen years old when he arrived in Hollywood. Cannon was trying to build a career as a comic and needed someone who would guide him and assist him in finding connections. That was when Jamie Foxx came as a blessing. “I was out here in Hollywood moving around, trying to figure it all out. Fifteen years old, Jamie Foxx looked out for me,” said Cannon. According to Cannon, he only had his mother’s car with him and needed a safe place to sleep. “I was driving in my mom’s car. He [Foxx] used to let me sleep on the couch, his little sister used to babysit me. I had a crush on her,” Cannon revealed.
