WBO Welterweight champion Terence Crawford had some stern words for Jake Paul. In the past two years, celebrity and influencer boxing matches have been receiving higher viewership and PPV buys than professional bouts. This new trend began with the Paul brothers, with Jake Paul the face of it.
Crawford sat down with Brian Custer on his podcast ‘Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer’ ahead of his title fight. Custer asked Crawford what he made of people like Jake Paul earning more from each fight than many veterans and champions of the sport. “Well, you know, I feel like it’s a disrespect to these boxers that, you know, give they all and that’s been here paying they dudes for years and years to come.”

“You know, some fighters they started when they was seven and you know, they professional. They world champions and haven’t even made a million yet. There’s fighters that, you know, been world champions for years and haven’t seen a big money fight, for ever, well never.”

“You know, and I think it’s you know, it’s disrespectful to us fighters that really take this boxing game serious. And put out all into it and you know. Lemme go boxing, let em pay me millions just to go out there because I got a following. I don’t think that’s right.” Crawford said.
