As the world of boxing buzzes in anticipation of Floyd Mayweather’s upcoming exhibition bout against MMA fighter and boxer John Gotti III, a voice of concern emerges from within Mayweather’s camp. Nate Jones, a long-time ally and assistant trainer to the boxing icon, recently broke the silence on a crucial matter that has been lurking in the shadows. In an interview that was as candid as it was unexpected, Jones expressed his worries about Mayweather’s safety in these exhibition matches.

Interestingly, Jones’ concerns have less to do with the infamous legacy of the Gotti family and more with an odd discrepancy that has been largely overlooked in Mayweather’s new path. As the boxing world takes on this revelation, one can’t help but wonder what lies ahead for Mayweather.

Why is Nate Jones concerned about Mayweather’s exhibition matches?

In a revealing conversation on Jones’ YouTube channel The Nate Jones Story, Jones delved into the details of his concerns. Addressing Mayweather’s upcoming bout with Gotti III, he said, “I’ve been standing by him for 30 years and I’ll be there to support him. I don’t want to see him get hurt in no way, shape or form.”

The interviewer pointed out a key concern, noting that while Mayweather typically faced opponents his size or just a weight class higher in regular fights, the exhibition matches presented a different scenario. “Now it’s like he’s fighting guys that are just bigger than him,” the interviewer noted.

This prompted Jones to voice his worry. “And that’s the thing that I’m a little worried about,” he admitted. Emphasizing Mayweather’s safety, he said, “When it comes to Floyd, his safety comes first. I’ve been with him over 30 years, so his safety is more important than a boxing match.”

He further acknowledged Mayweather’s strategy to grow his income through these matches, humorously referring to it as “robbing the bank,” but he remained firm on prioritizing Mayweather’s well-being. “As long as he’s not risking and getting hurt, I’m 100% behind him,” Jones stated. “If I see him getting hit too many times, I think I’ll be the first to say ‘man, cool back on these fights bro. I love you, I don’t want to see you get hurt’.” It is worth mentioning that Jones’ comments have come ahead of Mayweather’s upcoming bout against the grandson of the former New York crime boss. So, who is he?

Here’s what you need to know about John Gotti III, the grandson of former crime boss
