For a few days nows, rumor mills have surrounded Floyd Mayweather and his return to boxing. Last year, he had revealed on Instagram that he will be coming out of retirement in 2020. In the last few days, there have been rumors suggesting Mayweather would fight Adrien Broner.

However, Mayweather smashed all the rumors saying he has retired and will not be coming back. “These are just rumors. I’m retired. I’m finished with boxing. I stay in shape,” he said.

While saying he has retired from boxing, Mayweather said he is still a businessman. A businessman who would view a boxing fight as a business opportunity.

He said that if he had an opportunity for a big fight, he would view it as an opportunity to earn a huge sum of money within a short period. He felt that a fight against Broner, which recent rumors have suggested, was far from being such a fight.

“I’m older and a lot wiser, meaning I don’t want to end up like my uncle Rog [Roger Mayweather]. A lot of fighters don’t know when to give up,” he said.

If Floyd Mayweather fights again, it’s business

Mayweather’s last fight was a crossover fight against Mixed Martial Artist Conor McGregor. He had a guaranteed $100 million for the fight. He defeated McGregor via TKO to set a record for the most number of consecutive victories in professional boxing with 50 wins. The fight was itself after Mayweather had come out of retirement.

I’m not boxing – no boxing at all. I’m done, I’m retired and I love my life. I enjoy being retired.”
