Shawn Porter is not too impressed by the current WBO welterweight champion and pound-for-pound best Terence Crawford. The Bud is coming off an incredible fourth-round stoppage win over former champion Kell Brook. While many hailed Crawford for his exceptional performance against a seasoned veteran like Kell Brook, Porter felt otherwise.

“Remember I asked, remember I asked him in the last. ‘Hey yo, is there a gameplan? or are you just gonna come out there and fill it out and do what…’ That’s what I see him doing. Again if you are preparing for a dude, if he does this, I am gonna do that kind of stuff.

“But I don’t think he has X’s and O’s the way some of us do in our game-planning. I think all he has is, ‘these are my X’s and these are my O’s, and let me start filling in those squares as the fighting goes on,'” Porter said to FightHype during studio filming the latest episode of his podcast.

Shawn Porter is a former welterweight champion, having held the IBF title from 2013 to 2014 and the WBC welterweight title from 2018 to September 2019. The “Showtime” dropped the IBF belt to Kell Brook back in August 2014 and failed to get his hands on the WBC strap against Keith Thurman.

How good was Terence Crawford against Kell Brook?

Porter returned with an emphatic win over Danny Garcia to grab the WBC welterweight title. However, he would later drop the title to Errol Spence Jr. in his second title defense. Needless to say, with just three losses in his 35 professional bouts, Porter is considered one of the best active welterweight fighters right now.

Porter did not like how Crawford went around slowly against Kell Brook in the initial rounds. According to Porter, if Crawford is as good as he claims he is, he should have gone straight for the knockout win. Regardless, it’s easy to pass opinions from the outside.
