‘I Didn’t Even Know It Was Happening Until…’: Mother Details ‘Heart-Wrenching’ Decision She Made Concerning 3-Year-Old Daughter, Whose Father Is a Boxing Legend, on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk

Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere recently spoke at length about her relationship with former world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk. In the show, she details her struggles with substance abuse that affected her relationship with the Ukrainian boxer. Moreover, it was even revealed that Panettiere had to hand over the custody of their daughter to Klitschko.

Following this, Smith asked the Hollywood actress what made her go make such a tough decision.”Can you just tell us about the heart-wrenching decision you made with regard to your daughter? Cause I know that had to be…” she said.

Panettiere then details how she had to make the decisions because she felt she wasn’t her best version. She stated mothers sometimes have to make tough decisions that might be in the best interest of their children. “As mothers, you know sometimes we have to make decisions that weigh on us. I felt horribly guilty but at the same time I was trying to tell myself that if I’m not okay if I’m not good then I cannot be the best mom to you and I was going through such a hard time that I knew the most unselfish thing that I could do was to make that hard decision and try to work on myself,” said Panettiere.

Moreover, Panettiere then revealed she wasn’t fully aware that she would hand over full custody of her daughter. She claimed that she only got to know the full scope of the situation after her daughter was with Klitschko.

“ She was almost 3 and it wasn’t fully my decision. In fact, I didn’t even know it was happening until she was over there, In a country where her uncles are icons over there. It was a country which is very male-dominated. There wasn’t a heck of a lot I could do.”  She said

She then praised Klitschko and called him a great father, despite their differences. However, she stated that although Klitschko might be a great father, children still require their moms, especially daughters. ” I understand that he thinks he’s doing the right thing. He’s a fantastic father. He really is but I don’t think he fully grasps that as she gets older like kids need their moms.” she said.

The Klitschko’s are a powerful and renowned family in Ukraine and hold a lot of power over there. According to Panettiere, this made it tough for her to battle for the custody of her daughter, which is heartbreaking for any mother.
