Chris Eubank Jr. recently shook the boxing world after he finally managed to avenge himself after getting defeated by Liam Smith earlier this year. Coming into the fight, he was the underdog and people had already counted him out. After the 4th round knockout loss back in January, things didn’t look good for the British boxer. However, he returned with a new trainer, BoMac, and blazed through Smith.
He won an easy victory against Smith, showcasing the drastic improvement he went through since losing. However, with this win in his pocket, Eubank Jr. has already set his sights on something bigger. He is now eyeing the boxer who is sitting at the top of the throne- Canelo Alvarez.

Chris Eubank Jr. calls out Canelo Alvarez
Recently, in an interview with Sky Sports, Chris Eubank Jr. shared his intentions of going toe-to-toe with the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. He stated, “Canelo goes where the money is and I can’t think of any bigger money fights than me versus Canelo.” Furthermore, he added that he knows that the Mexican icon wants to have a fight in the UK, which, according to him, is a “huge market.”
He added, “There’s not many guys there that people would like to see fight more than me and Canelo Alvarez.” Eubank Jr. also stated that “you can’t target Canelo Alvarez”, as the champion fights whoever he wishes. The boxer claimed that Alvarez simply looks at options and decides if he wants to face them or not. It’s something David Benavidez would definitely agree on. After all, Canelo didn’t fight him even after receiving a huge offer from his team.

Eubank Jr. talks about the fickle nature of the sport
In the same interview, Eubank also talked about Alvarez breaking the boundaries other boxers are incapable of. He also acknowledged that Alvarez is known as the “Brit slayer”. However, he emphasized that people know that he won’t go down with a fight. He also addressed the change of opinion in people’s minds about him after his recent win. He claimed that he is in the “power position” right now.
Eubank stated, “It’s insane how fickle the sport is. But the truest quote of all when it comes to boxing is, you’re only good as your last fight.” He talked about how when he lost his last fight, he was considered a “loser.” Many people criticized him for not being able to back up all the talk he did. However, he claimed that he had proved himself. He ended his statement by saying, “Now I’m the number one guy.”
