Canelo Alvarez is still suffering the after-effects of having tested positive for clenbuterol, a banned substance, in 2018. The P4P king has been accused of drug abuse by several boxers since then. The latest accusations have been put by Jake Paul and IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant.

In a heated face-off for the upcoming 168 lbs unification, Plant and Alvarez have thrown several verbal slurs at each other. Meanwhile, ‘Sweethands’ Plant dropped a bombarding attack by bringing in Plant’s failed drug test. Although Canelo Alvarez didn’t give it much importance back then, he has justified his physical conditioning in an interaction with LA Times. Ahead of his November 6 bout, Canelo Alvarez has even agreed to do a special medical test.

The Mexican star said, “I can get tested right now. I can do follicle tests, which are tests that trace back six months and you get everything, and all drugs and not only those that help performance. But from marijuana, cocaine, whatever,”

“I can do a follicle test that you get six months of what you have consumed. I bet all my fortune to anyone that I will not get any.” (H/T:- Marca)

Canelo Alvarez is currently the WBC, WBA, WBO, and Ring super middleweight champion. In just over a month, he will defend all four belts and hope to claim Caleb Plant’s IBF title. The winner of the fight will be the first-ever four-belt super middleweight (168 lbs) unified champion. Thus, it’s a massive legacy that will come along for the winner on November 6 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Alvarez has been supremely active since returning from a one-year-lay off in December 2020. He has fought three times already, beating three different 168 pounders.
