Ahead of his first title defense against George Kambosos Jr, there has been no shortage of top lightweights calling out the undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr. However, there has been one name that particularly interests the lightweight king.

WBC Lightweight champion Devin Haney has called out ‘The Takeover’ after his successful title defense against Jorge Linares. ‘The Dream’ continues to be one name that alludes to ‘The Takeover’, who has plans to hold two divisions simultaneously.

After a recent open workout, Lopez replied strongly to the accusations that he is ducking Haney. He said, “Don’t worry, we are going to checkmate all of these motherf****rs… Devin wanted to call me out. Be all this big dog on the internet. Like I said, man, they hollering on the internet, I am real-life dog.”

Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez Jr have a history of going back and forth online. As both pugilists sit at the top of the heap of the lightweight division, the fight is something that excites both gentlemen.

After defeating Vasyl Lomachenko, Haney’s name was the first that was on the mind of Lopez Jr. When asked what was next for him after beating ‘Loma’, ‘Take Over’ said, “Man, take me to 140. Or I could fight the two-time email world champion, Devin Haney, if they want that.”

Haney also tweeted his desire to unify the title against ‘Take Over’. He also said that Lopez was the main fight that he wanted.
