Teofimo Lopez has been candid about his faith in god. That being said, he believes that being humble is for the weak. Lopez has time and time again made a reference to god publicly. Last year, ahead of his bout against Pedro Campa, he took to Instagram and expressed that he “Spoke to GOD, he told me this the one for (HIS’✝️ORY)”

The former unified lightweight world champion is set to square off against Josh Taylor on June 10th. Taylor is the current WBO light-welterweight world champion. However, both combatants are not fond of each other and have made that evident in the lead-up to their bout. The boxer responded to a comment made by a fan in which he expressed why the former champion was no longer humble. The same caught notice of a boxing journalist who called him out for it on Twitter.

Lopez is a confident young 25-year-old. He has achieved breathtaking accolades in a brief space of time. Recently, he made a post on Instagram in which stated, “Name a Boxer that I ain’t influenced…”. In the video, he appears to be training for his upcoming bout by lifting weights at a gym.

Reading the caption, a fan named @carlitoswayoutbailbonds expressed his opinion. He stated, “You were better liked when you were humble …” Lopez does not consider being humble a sign of strength, but rather the opposite. He responded to the comment by stating, “humble is for the weak”.

His response did not sit well with @ASideBoxingTalk, who is a boxing journalist. He took a screenshot of the response and posted it on his Twitter with the caption, “It hard to root for him… You can’t talk about God on one hand and then play the heel/bad guy in the other.. Just pick a side and stay there..”
