In a matter of hours, pound-for-pound superstar Canelo Alvarez will embark on yet another quest to retain his position as the undisputed king of the super-middleweight division. He will defend his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles against John Ryder, in a sensational homecoming showdown that will take place at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara. Meanwhile, his fight against Callum Smith in December 2020, is credited with making him the unparalleled king of the division. The Alvarez vs Smith fight was recently revisited ahead of his upcoming bout. However, the video’s thumbnail had a rather startling inaccuracy.
DAZN Boxing released the complete fight footage of the Alvarez vs Smith showdown anew. It is worth mentioning that this was done in order to hype up his upcoming fight.

The thumbnail, however, was a captured moment from Alvarez’s fight against Liam Smith. Notably, he is Callum Smith’s older brother. He fought Alvarez in 2016 while defending his WBO light-middleweight title. While it might have been an honest mistake, it sure did send viewers into a frenzy.

This glaring error quickly caught the eyes of fans. Moreover, they were also intrigued by the fact that DAZN got both the Smith brothers mixed up, an intrigue that they further addressed in the comments.
One user wasted no time in saying, “DAZN trolling the whole Smith family by confusing wrong Smith brother.” Another user named Tom Buckton pitched in by mentioning, “Getting the Smiths mixed up.” Similarly, a user named Hugo Dixon wrote, “Wrong smith in thumbnail.”

Meanwhile, one user named Twatman felt that there was a method to the madness. The user mentioned, “Swear they purposely do the wrong thumbnail for views (it works).”

On the other hand, a user named XO Dom called out DAZN for posting the fight after all the years. The user said, “DAZN slow asf.” This mix-up surely evoked some wild reactions from fans.
