On Saturday night, at ‘The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’ Chelsea Ballroom, Diego Pacheco will face Steven Nelson. Across the board, the fight is being followed quite keenly. The super middleweight division currently has only one ruler – Canelo Alvarez. Going by the available reports, the historic showdown against Terence Crawford could become a possibility. The impact of the fight may have a cascading effect on the 168 lbs division’s rankings. The undercurrents are already prevalent.
To make his contention strong, it’s critical that Diego Pacheco continues with his unbeaten streak. But he is staring at a daunting challenge. Unbeaten Nelson is not your regular customer. The army veteran comes from the Terence Crawford School of Boxing. He has the necessary skill and will to stop Pacheco. The Seattle-based fighter is therefore totally focused on the upcoming bout. However, there seems to be a pertinent issue that continues to bother him. It’s the devastating LA fire. Pacheco was born in the ‘City of Angels.’ But many members of his family still live there. During a recent discussion, the tall fighter shared his thoughts about the calamity.
Pacheco was speaking with ‘JER-Sports Journalist.’ The journalist asked the super middleweight fighter about family. He narrated how, despite being safe, the overwhelming ash and smoke badly affected his son’s health. Pacheco added, “I’m in Seattle now, but all my family is in LA. I have family in Altadena too, and their house is gone.”

The revelation shocked the host. Pacheco continued, “Yeah, it’s horrible, bro.” “So what are your thoughts about everything that’s happening? I mean, I know, were you, like, thinking of coming back? I don’t know, like, are you telling them to come to you?” asked the sports journalist.
Pacheco shared that he had offered his house in Seattle for his relatives to come and stay. “Yeah, bro, LA is crazy right now,” he admitted. The host checked whether any of his family members resided in South LA. Pacheco revealed that he did; however, they seemed to be doing fine.
Diego Pacheco: Safe, but the effects have been catastrophic
Sharing how he had been going through the reports and details on the television, Pacheco said, “Just seeing, like, um, my close family, who I have in Altadena man, they’ve worked really hard and, uh, put everything into their houses, you know, into all their belongings, into all their memories, and for them to just be gone, bro, it’s crazy, and, uh, it’s unfortunate, really, but I mean, what can we do? You know, it’s really out of our control.”
