It’s never a great idea to antagonize a professional boxer without skills to back it up. But that’s exactly what happened in a resurfaced video, where a taller opponent challenged Gervonta Davis. Unsurprisingly, the outcome of this ill-fated challenge is nothing short of a one-sided display of boxing dominance. Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis went to town on the challenger, dismantling him with devastating hooks and killer right hands.

‘Tank’ recently came out of a 44-day jail sentence because of an accident back in November 2022. So, if it were to happen today, the outcome might have been even worse for the challenger. Lucky for the contender, the incident took place a while ago. However, amid talks of Gervonta returning to the ring, Boxing Kingdom shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter) with a caption that read, “Gervonta destroying a much bigger sparring partner that called him out!” When the video started circulating on X, fans flocked to the comment section to express their surprise at the footage.

Gervonta Davis surprises fans with his might

Since the video made its way online, it has collected over 3 million views, 11K likes, over 1.2K reposts, and more than 250 comments. If the numbers don’t signify fans’ shock, nothing will. While some users urged people to stop calling out boxers, others compared Gervonta to Shakur Stevenson and others.

One user speculated that ‘Tank’ won’t be able to throw around Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and Teofimo Lopez in the same manner. It’s worth noting that a potential fight between Davis and Shakur has been in the talks for a while. But nothing has materialized this far.

Another user strongly advised aspiring boxers, particularly the tall ones, to refrain from challenging professional boxers merely based on acquiring some basic punching skills. Adding credence to the user’s assertion, Gervonta often trains with the best in the boxing scene, whose skills are way above a new boxer.

Someone else acknowledged that Davis hits hard for his weight. However, the user asserted Davis could never defeat Terence Crawford. Notably, ‘Tank’ had previously called out ‘Bud,’ and the latter had shown openness to facing ‘Tank.’

The next user speculated if anyone could withstand twelve rounds against Davis, citing Davis’ raw power and skills. It’s worth noting that Davis has defeated twenty-seven of his twenty-nine fights via knockouts. So, there is some truth in the user’s remark.

Another user found the video amusing, highlighting the misconception that height alone can help someone beat a professional boxer. Notably, Davis has faced taller opponents in the past, knocking them out.
