The contest between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr has been anticipated since 2019, and it’s been an on-and-off deal since then. Even now, when the prospects of the fight were looking better, it seems like Andy Ruiz Jr’s team doesn’t agree with the terms offered by Wilder’s team. On the other hand, Wilder believes that he should remain on the A-side for the event, as he’s a more renowned personality than ‘Destroyer’. Wilder’s vanity is understandable as he is a Bronze Olympic medalist, and later became the WBC World Heavyweight in 2015 and kept his belt until 2020.
While, Ruiz Jr had also won three Heavyweight belts, IBF, WBA, and WBO by defeating Anthony Joshua. But then, also lost it in his very first defense against the same boxer, ‘AJ’. So Wilder even stated that he became the champion only for “a wink of an eye“. Furthermore, he also recently gave a wake-up call to Ruiz and also stated that it’d be a great loss for his career if he backs down from their bout.

In a recent conversation with ESNEWS, the reporter, Ellie Seckbach asked the ‘Bronze Bomber’ what is the thing that’s being a hindrance in making the bout happen. Wilder replied that Andy Ruiz Sr needs to step aside and let his son make his own decisions. Then Wilder accuses Ruiz of making an excuse about construction being scheduled. For the uninitiated, Ruiz Jr has a construction business on the side and is building houses back in his homeland.
Anyways, Wilder enunciated that Ruiz’s dad is using him for money. He said, “They leeching out for Andy to make that happen to keep that up.” But then he asks Ruiz about his plans after that money runs out, what is the plan then? He further added, “Andy’s gonna be 33 years old, f***ing broke, can’t support his children, because his daddy made decisions for him that he should’ve made decisions for himself.”
So, Wilder called out Andy for not making decisions for himself and asked him to come outside of his father’s shadow. On a similar note, recently, Andy Ruiz Sr talked with IZQUIERDAZO about Wilder’s offer of a 70/30 purse split and demanded it to be a 50-50 split. Now, Wilder has responded to Andy’s father’s demand.

So, in the same interview with Seckbach, Wilder talks about how he doesn’t have to worry about his next opponent. As he can fight anybody around the world, and will be welcomed anywhere. While that wouldn’t be the case for Andy, so they really should give it a thought once again.
Wilder says, “Andy’s nowhere compared to me. No levels at all, period!” Then he goes on to add that Ruiz’s father is asking for a 50/50 split, which is entirely ridiculous for ‘Bronze Bomber’. So he asked Andy to stop it and think about it once again. And Wilder cautioned Ruiz, “Y’all miss out on this opportunity, this is probably gonna be the last opportunity.”
