Having suffered a TKO loss to Liam Smith in January this year, at a press conference, Chris Eubank Jr. accused the referee of stopping the fight early. In his opinion, Smith did not stop him but the referee did. However, in his latest interview with Simon Jordan and Jim White from talkSPORT, Chris Eubank Sr. blamed none but his son for his loss against Smith. According to Eubank Sr., his son underestimated the 34-year-old.

Additionally, Eubank Sr. mentioned that his son is still not listening to his trainers who only mean to improve his game inside the ring. Likewise, other than explaining why his son lost to Smith, Eubank Sr. announced what his son currently lacked and subsequently answered if the 33-year-old could avenge his loss to Smith.

While Chris Eubank Jr. branded the knockout he suffered against Liam Smith as an exciting new experience, Chris Eubank Sr. declared his son thought the fight against Smith would be easy. “When someone staggers like that it means they’ve been looking at bling, they’ve been looking at money, they’ve been looking at girls. They think it’s easy,” said Eubank Sr. “When you think it’s easy even a fighter of his calibre can beat you,” he added, explaining why the 33-year-old lost to Liam Smith.

Having called Liam Smith “a world-class operator“, Simon Jordan asked Eubank Sr. if his son could avenge the TKO loss he suffered against Smith. In his reply, the former three-weight world champion explained what his son’s boxing lacked. Although Roy Jones Jr. has taught Eubank Jr. patience, Eubank Sr. is of the view that his son “hasn’t used it.” “Roy Jones Jr. taught my son patience. But my son, it seems to me hasn’t used it,” expressed Eubank Sr. In his opinion, Eubank Jr. “is supposed to combine the patience with that speed and crack in your punches.

Additionally, he mentioned the complaints he heard from his son’s trainer David Haye. Reportedly, according to Haye, Eubank Jr. “doesn’t spar [though] he does everything.” “It seems to me by what David Haye said to me that he is still not listening. And so, I don’t know,” declared Eubank Sr. on talkSPORT. In another language, Eubank Sr. cannot guarantee that his son would avenge his loss against Liam Smith.
