Where is Floyd Mayweather? Well, after the reported events of May 1, he certainly isn’t in Dubai – not for an extended vacation or because of unpaid debts to people in the country, as Gervonta Davis suggested. “N***a say all this bullsh*t, but [he’s] in Dubai and can’t leave because he been taking money and not doing what they paid him to do.” Well, with just one move, ‘Money’ disproved both of Davis’ claims.

Number one: Mayweather is well and truly on home soil. And number two: Debt doesn’t look like it’s a problem. As for his vacation, where Mayweather explored India, Israel, and Greece, among other countries, his social media posts suggested he’d capped it off in Dubai. So, in sharp contrast to videos of a happy Mayweather driving a yacht and even punching a giant statue of a panda at the Dubai Mall, Davis’ comments raised eyebrows. However, not only is ‘Money’ back on American soil, but he’s also reportedly back in Los Angeles. And how could he have not gone to watch the NBA Playoffs in town?

In 2023, when Kyrie Irving debuted for the Dallas Mavericks, Floyd Mayweather was courtside watching his friend take on the LA Clippers. After the Mavs won, Irving gifted his jersey to Mayweather. Just over a year later, the 50-0 boxer attended the same matchup as the two teams went head-to-head in Game 5 of their Round 1 series. As Luka Doncic put on a stellar performance, eventually helping the Mavs win 123-93 despite his knee injury, Mayweather’s presence proved he wasn’t held in Dubai. But it was his actions even before reaching the Crypto.com Arena that took everyone by surprise.

Prior to watching the game, Floyd Mayweather engaged in a random act of kindness. Per Daily Mail, while making his way to the arena from the Ritz Carlton in downtown LA, Mayweather came across a group of homeless men. In a heartwarming gesture, the 5-division former champion decided to help them out and gave them $30,000 from a bag that he was carrying.

It wasn’t the fact that Floyd Mayweather donated his money that surprised people. He’s no stranger to doing that, having previously contributed to Cure Duchenne, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children. It was the fact that he was in LA when rumors about him being stuck in Dubai were running amuck. But as almost everyone seemed confused about what was true and what was not, the men he helped out couldn’t have been more grateful.

“I don’t want to show my face, but [Floyd] just gave us $30,000,” said one of them to TMZ, who reported on the incident. In fear of getting targeted, the men wanted to remain anonymous. “We do not want to get robbed. We will go find a motel,” they said gratefully. Per a 2023 study, California has the highest estimated number of people experiencing homelessness. There are approximately 181,399 of them, and Mayweather helped make the lives of at least 3 of them better, at least for a little while.

Mayweather’s act of kindness didn’t stop there. He even gifted $500 to some kids selling candy outside the arena. As news of his kind gestures became public, people started reacting on Reddit, engaging in fervent discussion over how to make sense of this, especially given the recent allegations Gervonta Davis has been making about his former promoter.

From escaping Dubai to helping Adrien Broner, fans surmise Floyd Mayweather’s move

A few days ago, boxing insider Rick Glaser tweeted about Mayweather’s situation, confirming Gervonta Davis’ claims. He wrote, “Just got off the phone with my guy in Dubai. He told me that Floyd Mayweather is definitely being held by the Government court system there as he owes a substantial amount of money in Dubai. So Gervonta Davis is correct that Floyd’s being held there!!!”

Considering a known name in the boxing realm said this, most believed Davis’ claims to be true. But Mayweather’s reported appearance at the Mavericks-Clippers game said otherwise. So, as TMZ Sports reported this, a fan wrote, “I am thinking Floyd was trapped in Dubai. Social media is a scary place,” sounding the alarm on the power of social media to further supposedly baseless rumors.

Taking a similar stance, another expressed, “I guess he’s not stuck in Dubai anymore.” They also slammed the hatred often evident in the mainstream against the successful boxer. “People just get off on hating this dude. More people would buy his fights just to watch him possibly lose, brilliant,” they wrote. Proving the point about Mayweather receiving hate, remember how 50 Cent once publicly claimed that Mayweather couldn’t read and even dared him to read one full page from a Harry Potter book?

Well, one Redditor wrote, “I mean, he can’t read, so he may not know how much he gave them,” questioning the boxer’s kindness and intelligence. However, Mayweather’s act of kindness had a positive impact on a fan, too. They penned, “Damn, I am going to have to take back all the sh*t I said about him.” This didn’t change the fact that a few believed he still owed money.

In their opinion, this was just another ploy by Mayweather to turn the attention away from the allegations. “Man is trying to change the focus from the recent allegations regarding the Saudis, lol,” wrote the Redditor. But not all comments were directed at ‘Money.’ One of them roped in Adrien Broner. In 2022, Broner, who formerly trained with Mayweather, reached out to the latter, seeking financial help. In this regard, a fan hilariously quipped, “Fun fact: That homeless guy was AB, and Floyd is actually asking for his 30K back with interest.

Whether Floyd Mayweather’s kindness was a ploy or not, it looks like he’s no longer stuck in Dubai. What do you make of Floyd Mayweather donating $30,000 to homeless men in LA? Do you think Mayweather owed some people money in Dubai?
