Jorge Masvidal knows a thing or two about brawls, but he least expected it when he met Nate Diaz for their last conference for Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2 in Anaheim. The fighters, who had relatively quiet previous conferences in the lead-up to their fight, erupted this time. Not only the fighters but also the trainers threw punches when the two camps clashed. As expected, ‘Gamebred’ didn’t appreciate the swelling that one of his boxing coaches, Jorge Capetillo, received in the aftermath.

Diaz, 39, had brought aggression to their presser and tried to leave the event early. However, when asked to do a faceoff one last time, both fighters shared heated words. Not soon after, both camps found themselves jumping on each other. Amidst all this chaos, Capetillo was throwing punches of his own. While Masvidal escaped unscathed, Diaz didn’t participate in the festivities. But he appeared visibly frustrated when Fight Hype asked for his reaction about the melee.

Masvidal, at 35-17, declared, “They went after the most mature dude. He’s like a father, like an uncle. They went after him. They ain’t go after a young buck.”

The Miami native, more infamously, had been in a scuffle with current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards back in 2019. He has also brokered peace on a few of these, most recently between Charles Bennett and Joe Penafiel on his promotion, Gamebred Bareknuckle Promotion, this April. But chances are less that Masvidal will adopt a pacifist approach in the ring against the Stockton Slapper. The two previously fought at UFC 244, with Masvidal, 39, edging past Diaz to crown himself the first BMF title holder. He will look to repeat history.

Jorge Masvidal clarifies his intention to take out Nate Diaz

The former UFC star specified his intentions during the presser, as he wanted to“take care of the business” by knocking Diaz out. He added, “At the end of the day, all that matters is that I’m in shape, and like I said earlier, it’s not going to the judges. And not because of a cut, or nothing, but because of a clean KO. That’s what I’m training for.”

Masvidal has one pro boxing fight under his belt. He fought Joseph Benjamin almost two decades ago and secured a win in the decision. Meanwhile, Diaz is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Jake Paul when he made his boxing debut last August. However, it remains to be seen how this riot during the presser affected their fight.
