The boxing world was pleasantly surprised when talks of a bout between Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney started. The bout would have given Haney a shot at redemption after his controversial victory against Vasyl Lomachenko. However, as it stands now, it appears that the bout may no longer take place. The two are at an impasse regarding the percentage of pay cuts. This has left the fight in shambles, as Stevenson doesn’t want to fight for just 25%.

Moreover, it seems that even Haney is looking for alternative fights, as he recently stated that he is open to a rematch bout against Loma in an interview with The Danza Project. Perhaps in reaction to this, Stevenson has come out with his own plan to destroy Haney’s plan. He himself decided to shift his focus to Loma while taking jabs at Haney.

Frustrated by the disregard shown by the undisputed lightweight champion, Stevenson decided to make a fight somewhere else. He took to Twitter to suggest a possible fight with the former champion. Stevenson shared his admiration for the Ukrainian boxer as well as his wishes for Loma’s well-being. Furthermore, he found an interesting way to challenge the California resident.

He wrote, “Nothing but respect champ u deserved them belts I hope u healed up and everything is all good wit you.. I think it’s time for a REAL high skill level chess I’m ready for a big fight champ let’s make something happen”

However, Loma didn’t appear too keen on the idea. He thanked Stevenson for his concern and stated that he was fine. It seems that Lomachenko still wants to focus on the Haney fight for now, as he stated that he has “unfinished business” with Haney.

With his hopes of the potential bout dashed at its infancy, Stevenson showed maturity as he shared his understanding 0f Loma’s decision. Moreover, he pointed out that if ‘The Dream’ “ducks” Loma, “like he’s ducking me it only make sense for us to get it in”.

It appears that the chances of the Haney-Lomachenko bout are better than the champion facing Stevenson. Though fans would not mind much as a lot of fans desire to see the rematch.

Davis pointed out Stevenson’s contrasting behavior between online and real life. Tank said, “He throws shots, then wants to act friendly.” He further pointed out that Stevenson would talk smack on Twitter, and then he “runs into my locker room and wants to take a picture and all that.” He made it clear that they are not “friends anymore.” Tank stated that he has no allies and called Stevenson’s actions plain disrespectful.
