Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. looked like a shadow of his former self. The former UFC fighter gave him a run for his money. After an intense six-round contest at cruiserweight, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, emerged victorious against Uriah Hall on the judges’ scorecards. He won via unanimous decision. Judges scored the fight 58-56, 59-55, and 59-55 in favor of Chavez.”The Son of the Legend”, who is back from a 3-year hiatus, looked rusty. His punches looked labored and gassed out pretty quickly in the fight. Hall began to shine through in the later rounds, connecting with his power shots. Safe to say, there wasn’t much to separate between the two fighters, as some fans thought that the fight should have been called a draw.
Frankly speaking, you would expect more from Chavez Jr who has fought the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs. You wouldn’t believe that a boxer with a resume of 53-6-1 was in the ring with someone who was fighting only his second professional boxing match. The boxing fans were utterly disappointed because they expected nothing less than a dominant performance for Chavez Jr.
It was quite evident Chavez Jr didn’t want to take many risks in his comeback fight. A fear of a loss, after coming back from such a long hiatus, may have contributed to his calculative approach and a defensive mindset. He was fighting on the outside, sticking behind the jab, and peppering him with the occasional power shot throughout the fight. Nonetheless, Uriah Hall faced the first loss in his professional boxing career, padding up a 1-1 boxing record.

During the in-ring post-fight interview, Chavez Jr called out Jake Paul, but it was met with boos from the crowd gathered in Tampa to witness the ‘Problem Child’ take on Perry for the main event of the night. “Jake Paul, why not?” I’m a better fighter than his opponents, that’s for sure,” Chavez Jr said in his post-match interview. However, with a performance like that, some would say Paul would piece him up. On top of that, Paul is a natural cruiserweight, and Chavez Jr has majorly fought in middleweight during his career.
Before the fight, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was dealing with mental health, and substance abuse issues. Most probably, stepping into the ring was an uphill task in itself for the 38-year-old boxer. But, boxing is an unforgiving sport for those who fail to entertain.
“Washed” Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s underwhelming performance disappoints fans!
One boxing fan claimed it was a shameful performance for someone who is following in the footsteps of the great Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez.

Even though it was only Hall’s second professional fight, he went toe-to-toe with a former champion. It must have been a great learning experience for the former UFC fighter, who didn’t take too much damage in the bout.
Good fight for Hall. Minimum damage, paycheck, stock actually might have raised

At one point in time, Chavez Jr was the WBC middleweight champion. He defeated Sebastian Zbik in 2011 to pick up the title. He subsequently lost the strap to Sergio Martinez after making three successful title defenses. Therefore, an underwhelming performance against a man who was only fighting his second professional match was difficult to stomach for the fans.
Let’s be real, how was he a WBC champ

Chavez Jr. has been out of the squared circle for quite a long time, dealing with substance abuse issues. He has been in and out of rehab and was also admitted to a psych ward for downing pills. On that note, a fan wanted him to retire from boxing, and focus on his health.
Chavez gotta stop boxing and focus on his health.
