It seems like British YouTuber KSI has given up all hopes of a matchup against his bitter rival Jake Paul. The current course of action taken by JJ doesn’t indicate any serious commitment to the sport of boxing. On August 31st, KSI will be facing Slim Albaher and former MMA contender Anthony Taylor in a bizarre 1 vs. 2 “tag-team” boxing match. None of his opponents are pro-boxers. On the other hand, the ‘Problem Child’ is harboring dreams of becoming a world champion. Although his 9-1 record doesn’t have elite names from boxing in his win column, it does look impressive when compared to KSI’s resume. After all, Paul has victories against notable names from the combat sports world like Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Ben Askren.

But, will the stars align and both internet sensations finally meet in the ring to settle their bitter feud? Well, ahead of Jake Paul’s upcoming fight against BKFC fighter Mike Perry on July 20, the former Disney star made it abundantly clear that he did not consider ‘The Nightmare’ a serious contender anymore. Furthermore, the Ohio native also feels KSI is making a mockery out of the sport.

In an interview with FightHype, Paul called KSI a “joke” to the sport. He seemed disappointed by the fact that the British YouTuber was engaging in a tag team boxing match, which was an insult to the integrity and seriousness of the sport.

KSI and Jake Paul have been beefing on social media for over five years. It was a rivalry that started with Jake wanting to take revenge on behalf of his brother Logan Paul, who lost to the 31-year-old YouTuber in 2019. The thirst for revenge is not there anymore considering KSI and ‘The Maverick’ have since become best buds and business partners. Furthermore, KSI has fallen off the boxing radar, failing to secure exciting matchups since the Tommy Fury loss. More so, KSI’s upcoming 1 vs. 2 “tag-team” boxing match seems to have irked Paul.

“He has been a joke in the sport since day one. I said before the Gib fight that he would never fight me. And that still holds true. He is doing this WWE tag team boxing and that’s not what I am here to do. I am here to become a world champion,” Paul said confidently.

The way that Jake Paul’s career is heading towards, he sees a matchup with KSI as a step down in the sweet science hierarchy. Meanwhile, Paul’s manager and MVP co-founder Nikisa Bidarian revealed in an interview with Ariel Helwani why earlier negotiations between the two fighters’ camps failed to materialize into a fight.

Why can’t you keep it confidential?

Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian stated that KSI’s manager’s tendency to reveal back-room negotiation details in the public domain was one of the main reasons that the fight fell through.

“When his representation is constantly taking a public position on Jake Paul, on MVP, on myself, it’s just not who I wanna do business with. It’s not who Jake wants to do business with. Jake Paul-KSI is a great fight. I think it’s an exciting fight. But it’s gonna be on terms that makes sense in the background between ourselves, DAZN, and Wasserman,” Bidarian said.

In the meantime, KSI has been talking with multiple potential opponents like Amir Khan to arrange a fight. The social media entertainer knows fully well that winning against such a big name will catch Paul’s attention and he can somehow lure him into a fight in the future.
