‘Never rest after a victory’, this quote aptly fits the boxing champ, Floyd Mayweather. He fought Asakura last month, and now he is already attending press conferences for his upcoming exhibition bout with Deji.

While talking about his last fight, Mayweather explained, “Let me kind of explain to everyone what happened in the last exhibition. So I came out there and I had to check the temperature, what do you mean by check the temperature? I mean, seeing what the guy is really on, so you know he shot a jab. I touched it with my glove. I saw he was trying to kill me. I said I’ve been here before because I got so much experience, I didn’t know what he wanted to do. I mean sometimes, you want me to carry the guy. I can carry a guy, but I can see this guy, he was upset. So I said let me go ahead and get the people what they want to see.”

Floyd Mayweather to put his professional boxing record at risk

The 45-year-old boxer retired from the sport in 2017 as he defeated UFC superstar Conor McGregor through a 10th-round knockout. He departed from the sport as he extended his record to a perfect 50-0 with his last fight. Fans have been anticipating a rematch between the two since then. And now the rematch is a step closer to its fruition.

As per reports, the sequel will be a two-fight deal, which is rumored to take place in 2023. The first fight will be inside the boxing ring, while the second one will take place inside the octagon. Interestingly, Mayweather’s pro record will be on the line, and the second fight inside the octagon against a formidable fighter like McGregor might break his undefeated record. Only time will tell how this situation plays out.
