It’s confirmed! Canelo Alvarez is not fighting David Benavidez, who people argue is his greatest challenge since Floyd Mayweather. After much speculation and supposed separation from the PBC, Canelo went against his own word to fight a Mexican, Jaime Munguia, on May 4. Meanwhile, Benavidez wasn’t going to sit around waiting for Canelo.

The ‘Mexican Monster’, therefore, decided to move up in weight and fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk to become a contender to fight the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol for the undisputed light heavyweight title. So, when Fight Hype shared a clip of Canelo Alvarez recovering from his training session for the upcoming Munguia fight, fans could not hold in their dissatisfaction.

Canelo Alvarez has enough ice

In the clip shared on YouTube by Fight Hype, Canelo Alvarez can be seen sitting in a tub full of cold water, a common method of reducing inflammation and speeding up recovery popular among athletes. Meanwhile, his trainer, Eddy Reynoso, can be seen shoveling piles of snow into the tub. To this, Canelo stated in the captions, “The water already comes out at 2 degrees, but if we need [we can add] ice. I think we don’t have to worry too much,” as per the YouTube translations.

It’s worth mentioning that Jaime Munguia defeated their common rival, John Ryder, recently and expressed his thoughts about fighting Canelo Alvarez. Even though the fate of the fight seemed uncertain at first, later, the same was confirmed on social media by Canelo recently. However, it wasn’t the fight most people wanted, so Canelo’s recovery clip on YouTube attracted a plethora of negative responses.

Fans still think Canelo is ducking David Benavidez

Since the video went live, it has become the eye of the storm, where people expressed their thoughts on Canelo and his decision to yet again avoid a fight against David Benavidez. One user suggested that all the Canelo supporters would want to be in the tub with Canelo, supporting his decision not to fight Benavidez. The user wrote, “Canelo fanboys want to [be] in there with him and say he [doesn’t] need to fight Benavidez – they still love him.”

Another user thought Canelo was taking a cold shower because he wanted to freeze himself and avoid the fight against Benavidez. “He wants to freeze himself, [so he does] not [have] to fight David Benavidez,” the user commented.

Meanwhile, one user just wanted to see Canelo fight someone! The user wrote, “Mann, fight somebody.”

The next user suggested the bath would be much more relaxing if Canelo had added some Cherries in the tub. The user wrote, “Should put some cherries in his little bath as well.”

One user ignored the clip entirely and reminded Canelo that Benavidez was still waiting to fight him. “Blah blah blah blah, David still waiting Canelo,” wrote the user. By the looks of things, Benavidez might have to wait a lot longer.
