Violence, aggression, fast action, and fireworks—everything was on offer when Jake Paul clashed with Mike Perry. And it had it all. In a contest of will, sturdy chins, flying punches, and boxing skills, it was ‘Problem Child,’ who came on top and captivated the fans with his splendid performance on judgment day.

Perry, as expected, put the pressure on early, whereas Paul, despite being on his toes, targeted Perry’s body and followed it with a head blow, which floored him and knocked him down. Paul’s size and weight advantage appeared daunting, and his punches dealt heavy damage, especially his right, which wobbled Perry and even gave him a broken rib. ‘Platinum’s lowered hands and his constant following of Paul, instead of a high guard and cutting ring, put him in trouble.

Perry’s reluctance to clinch and his lack of defense allowed Paul to set up big, clubbing shots. However, Paul’s heavy breathing and gas tank gave some space to Perry, allowing him to land some hooks as the latter continued to just walk him down the ring and also draw blood from Jake’s face. But these were the only saving graces for Perry, as Paul slowly ripped him apart. The moment came in round 6 when a flurry of combinations to Perry’s head, sent him crashing to the canvas. Mike Perry, being the lionheart he is, staggered to his feet, but his feet were gone. The referee then had to stop the action and hand Paul the win.

Fans laud Paul’s boxing skills

Mikaela Mayer pointed out how Paul has solidified the fact that MMA fighters lack boxing knowledge and execution in the ring. She declared, “If anything, Jake Paul has solidified the fact that although MMA fighters train boxing, they do not truly know boxing.”

Lou DiBella referenced what HE Turki Alalshikh had said about crossover boxing: “This is not boxing.” DiBella agreed with him and noted, “I agree with what Turki just said.”

DiBella, referencing his comments on Amanda Serrano‘s fight, where he called her atrocious because of her win against Stevie Morgan, added, “Deja Vu Guy fighting Jake is objectively atrocious.”

Claressa Shields called Perry a punching bag because he left himself open to be hit, having the lower guard and without any head movement. She announced, “Lord Mike Perry looking like A damn punching bag , what exactly was the game plan.”

Ebanie Bridges heaped praise on Paul for his beautiful body shots, which he followed with blows to the head as well as his discipline. She asserted, “Jake Paul’s looking great! Great set ups and discipline.”

Nico Ali Walsh, however, criticized Paul’s choice of opponent, as he believed fighting high-pedigree boxers would have helped him, rather than fighters like Perry. He argued, “This dude is not gonna get any better fighting these opponents.”
