Jermell Charlo suffered the most devastating defeat of his career at the hands of Canelo Alvarez on 31 September. It hasn’t even been two weeks since then, and news of his next mandatory fight has surfaced online. After his clash against Canelo, Charlo expressed the desire to go up against Terence Crawford. But Crawford dismissed the prospect of fighting the American because of his sub-par performance with Canelo. So, the boxing community has been wondering what’s next for Charlo. A tweet from Michael Benson recently answered all those queries.
According to the tweet from Benson, the IBF has announced Charlo’s next mandatory opponent, whom Charlo must face to defend his WBA, WBC, and IBF super welterweight titles. Who is this mandatory opponent? It’s Bakhram Murtazaliev, a Russian undefeated boxer. Both fighters have until 9 November to come up with a deal so negotiations for the purse can begin. It’s not clear how Charlo took the news, but the same left the boxing world in shock and awe.

Jermell didn’t just have a fight, that shit was a sparring match all that running he did tf.
