Oleksandr Usyk might have a lot left to attain before he goes down as an all-time great in the sport of boxing. However, he has already earned enough to be considered relevant in the G.O.A.T debate. Touting an Olympic gold, an undefeated professional record, and an undisputed world championship at cruiserweight, Usyk can become a heavyweight champion by beating Anthony Joshua on September 25.

That said, Alexander Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, has already seen a lot of similarities between Muhammad Ali and his Ukrainian client. Ahead of the fight, Krassyuk rightly talked about them while addressing several scenarios surrounding Usyk’s recent camp.

In a chat with Matchroom, the K2 Promotions GD said, “He (Usyk) is not just a fighter. He reminds me Muhammad Ali. Not because they were born the same day on January 17. But because he is like he (Usyk) doesn’t respond to the public. I mean he doesn’t try to meet what public wants from him. He doesn’t say things that might make him popular. He does say things that he thinks.”

However, it will be a demanding task to outwork Anthony Joshua. Despite his undefeated status, Usyk’s exposure to the heavyweight division has seen him struggle against Derek Chisora. Thus, ‘AJ’ shall bring a tougher challenge.

Can Oleksandr Usyk shock the world?

‘The Cat’ Usyk will fall short before Anthony Joshua’s gigantic physical frame. Moreover, sparring partner Martin Bakole’s recent statements cite Usyk to be lacking power in the new weight class.

In a chat with IFL TV, Bakole, who has also spared Anthony Joshua, hailed the Briton to have more power than Usyk.

Nevertheless, Usyk’s southpaw stance should help him in the ring against Joshua. Furthermore, his fight IQ should hold him in good stead on September 25. Thus, he has the features to shock the world. However, only time will tell whether he will put them to use.
