AnEsonGib is the person you approach for lessons in coming back from a devastating loss. In his professional boxing debut in Miami at the beginning of 2020, Jake Paul swiftly secured victory over Gib within the first round. The American YouTuber dominated the match, knocking down his fellow content creator three times in just three minutes. The referee had no choice but to intervene and stop the bout, as it became evident that Gib couldn’t withstand Paul’s onslaught. It was a decisive and quick-paced victory for Paul in a match that clearly favored him from the start.

Eddie Hearn, in a recent podcast with KSI, discussed his marvelous comeback from a fight. Fans and Hearn himself did not anticipate the internet sensation would re-establish his standing in the boxing community again.

Hearn was present while the entire episode took place. The hype around Gib was immense with fans calling out his name and massaging his ego to prepare him for the grand match. Imagine the humiliation of failing to meet expectations following a TKO loss in the first round itself. “And he came down on Sunday after the fight with Jake Paul, it was so humiliating as well, the way that it happened. And I saw him in the lift and the way that he looked, like completely broken.”

Hearn still remembers the sad nod Gib responded with after the promoter greeted him post the match.

However, it seems Gib had the perseverance required to reinvent himself and gain his footing again. Both KSI and Hearn were surprised with the recovery. “He’s done unbelievably well and he’s got in correct shape. Coz that was like, that was it, you can’t come back from that. You should just disappear after that.” said Hearn. What exactly are they talking about? How did he revive himself from such A fall from grace?

AnEsonGib’s climb up

Looking at Gib’s last two matches, one can certainly say that he has been busy putting the work in to prove himself again. In their highly-anticipated match, Gib secured a fourth-round knockout against Austin McBroom in September 2022. He sent him to the canvas five times. While the second bout didn’t reach the epic heights of their first showdown, the match this April still had its share of sparks. AnEsonGib emerged victorious again, claiming his second stoppage win over McBroom, although this one lacked the highlight-reel moments.
