David Benavidez, ahead of the scheduled fight with Demetrius Andrade on November 25th, just revealed the reason he believes Undisputed Super Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez has been avoiding him. In a strong statement, ‘Red Flag’, who has now been crying Canelo’s name for a considerable length of time, branded himself the biggest threat alive to Canelo’s hard-earned belts.

In addition, Benavidez pitied Canelo for fighting a boxer two divisions smaller than him in his last fight. On that note, he barely hesitated to state that Jermell Charlo vs. Canelo Alvarez was a boring fight fans did not want to see.

Speaking to Stephen A. Smith on The Stephen A. Smith Show, David Benavidez explained that Canelo Alvarez is aware of the inevitable. In his opinion, Canelo wants to wait him out since he understands that Benavidez is capable of dethroning him. However, ‘Red Flag’ believes the more Alvarez makes him wait, the more dangerous a fighter becomes in boxing. As a result, he confidently stated he would capture all of Canelo’s belts if they stepped inside the ring.

He knows once he steps inside the ring with me all his belts are going to leave with me. I’m not leaving that building without all those belts. And I will be victorious if that fight happens,” said Benavidez.

Additionally, in an honest statement, he claimed, “He knows that I’m the biggest threat that he would ever face. Canelo thinks he’s just going to wait me out. But that’s gonna make me more dangerous because I’m getting more experienced, more comfortable. I’m hungry and I really want all those belts.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that besides pursuing Canelo, Benavidez criticized the former’s fight with Jermell Charlo. Did it hurt Benavidez to see Alvarez accept Charlo, a boxer two divisions smaller than him?

Benavidez felt Alvarez vs. Charlo was “boring”

Speaking to Smith, Benavidez stated he did not want to disrespect Jermell Charlo because he only took his chance. Although Benavidez lauded Charlo for going up two weight classes to box Alvarez, he barely hesitated to state that none looked impressive in the fight. “I don’t want to disrespect Charlo at all. He took the chance and he went up two weight classes and he didn’t look good,” said Benavidez.

Canelo Alvarez, in my opinion, didn’t look good [either],” he added. In his opinion, “It was a boring fight [with] only a little bit [of] punches thrown.” In this context, Benavidez, who recently welcomed a potential fight with Terence Crawford, reiterated that he was the ideal opponent for Alvarez.
