Eddie Hearn is one of the most populous boxing promoters. He is the promoter of many icons and superstars of the sport such as Canelo Alvarez, Katie Taylor, Anthony Joshua, and many more. He is very opinionated and outspoken. Hearn was born to Barry Hearn who is a boxing promoter himself and founded Matchroom boxing. He has been around boxers and fights throughout his life. In the past, Hearn has been a great advocate for training in boxing.

Though, not everyone is a fan of the promoter. Recently, Lawrence Okolie, a boxing world champion came out publicly criticizing Hearn. He details the experience he had under his management.

Okolie was a fighter who fought under ‘Matchroom boxing’ but recently departed from the promotion. It appears that the fighter and the promotion did not end their professional relationship in good terms. As Okolie was asked about the departure, he did not have any kind words to say for Hearn and his experience at Matchroom boxing.

He expressed his disappointment with Hearn. Especially with how he handles his fighter and how his “character traits” did not resonate well with the boxer. A video surfaced on  Twitter posted by @idboxingnews wherein Okolie candidly opened up about his departure.

He stated,Someone who is in a position like Eddie, Born rich, continues to be rich. It’s not jealousy of the money but its character traits. Like me and Eddie, he can say what he wants online we had our own personal conversations and stuff that is going on behind the scenes.” He added “Shows me he is vindictive. He is showing it with his actions.”
