Caleb Plant, the IBF super-middleweight champion, will defend his title against a veteran in Caleb Truax on January 30. Boasting a record of 31-4-2, Truax is a legitimate contender for the title and can bring a lot of trouble for ‘Sweet Hands’.
However, David Benavidez, the unbeaten super middleweight contender believes, he should have replaced Truax. Despite calling out Caleb Plant multiple times, the IBF champion hasn’t responded to Benavidez. That said, Plant might opt to clear his IBF mandataries first.
However, Benavidez lashed at Plant and accused him of running away from the challenge. The 24-yea-old connected with PBC podcast to shed light on the upcoming Plant vs Truax matchup.

“Please don’t get me wrong, Caleb Truax is a nice guy, but I feel like they couldn’t win another round and they could have got a better fight. Because Caleb Truax didn’t even make to the last fight. I think he passed out trying to make weight,” said Benavidez.
Benavidez won his last fight against Roamer Alexis Angulo via stoppage on August 2020. He claimed of being available on January 30, only if Plant would have given him the fight. However, he has still found out a way to seal the matchup in the future.

Benavidez added, “I could have fought, they could have called me up. I am free, I was training. So, I mean, I think he (Caleb Plant) is being protected very much, but in the future, I think I am just going to make it inevitable for him to fight me. So whoever I gotta take care of, if I gotta take care of his contenders on the IBF roster, or whatever. I am gonna do, I am gonna make it, where they can’t deny me the fight.”
David Benavidez is all for Caleb Plant
While the super-middleweight roster is full of big names, Benavidez seems to have locked his aim on Caleb Plant. Alongside his constant call-outs, Jose Benavidez Sr. has also dived into the mix to take a dig at ‘Sweet Hands’.

A day ago, he posted a picture of Plant on Instagram and taunted him. As the post said, Caleb Plant was ducking Benavidez for a long time.
