 Shakur Stevenson is garnering recognition by the day. The former featherweight champion made his lightweight debut in April of this year. Right after his victory, ‘Sugar,’ expressed his interest in facing Devin Haney: The current undisputed lightweight champion. However, the two former training partners could not come to an agreement.

Moreover, that did not halt Stevenson from calling other lightweight legends such as Vasiliy Lomachenko. This gave an impression to the boxing world that the young undefeated boxer wanted to fight the toughest competition out there. Along this line, Terence Crawford on the Joe Rogan Experience weighed in on Stevenson as a fighter and his future trajectory.

Shakur Stevenson receives praise from Joe Rogan and Terence Crawford

Terence Crawford is making the rounds on the podcast circuit after his victory against Errol Spence Jr. On Joe Rogan’s podcast, the undisputed welterweight champion shared  his opinion on Stevenson.

It bears a mention that Crawford and Stevenson get along quite well. Ahead of his last bout, Stevenson showed his support for Crawford. During the podcast, Rogan discussed that Stevenson is an underrated boxer. However, a big fight would make him a big star. He stated, “He is not really a household name but he should be. He is an elite fighter he is so f*cking good. But he needs a high-profile fight.”

In response, Crawford asserted that fighters in and around his division find him intimidating. However, he thinks that elite fighters can’t duck Stevenson for long.

He stated, “Nobody wanna fight him and not see why? I get it but at the same time they have to see him sooner or later no matter what, no matter what, no matter how far they go, they have to see him sooner or later.”

In addition, Crawford claimed that Stevenson calling out formidable opponents is a testament to his competency. He added, “You know he is calling out everybody. He is calling out Pitbull, he is calling out Lomachenko, he is calling out Devin. he calling out Tank. He is a dangerous man when you know how talented he is.”

Stevenson is not just garnering respect from the fans but from other world champions and combat sports pundits like Rogan. Amidst this, let’s take a look at what lies ahead for him.

What is next for Shakur Stevenson?

Stevenson is managed by renowned boxing promoter, Bob Arum. In an interview, he did not make anything official but asserted something massive is in store for the 24-year-old. He stated, “Shakur is going to fight later this year in a major fight. Maybe it’ll be against Haney, maybe it’ll be against Lomachenko. I don’t know, but the fight’s going to happen,”
