Legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao sent shock waves throughout the boxing world as he announced his return to the sport. The Filipino superstar will return to the ring after a 2-year hiatus. And lightweight superstar Teofimo Lopez has given his honest take on the move.

The Filipino senator and 8-weight World Champion announced he would face current unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. This move was lauded by fans and fighters alike as it showed Pacquiao’s desire to fight the best even at 42.

Now the 16-0 boxer has also given his thoughts. He spoke FightHub TV and said, “It goes to show how much of a fighter he really is.

“[He’s a] true boxer and the fact that… he’s already a legend as it is. But that, right there, just makes him like an icon on a whole other standpoint and a whole other level.”

Thus, these comments from Lopez showed how much respect he has for the legend. ‘The Takeover’ then added, “Heart of a lion, you know.

“He has the eye of the tiger still. And I think with this rest that he had throughout this time, it’s going to be a great event.”

Why is Teofimo Lopez showing his support for Manny Pacquiao?

The comments from the lightweight champion showed he completely backs the fight between the Filipino and the American. Moreover, he confirmed Pacquiao can still cut it at the top of the sport.

Despite the excitement around the return of the ‘Pac Man,’ some fans have questioned whether he has what it takes to challenge Spence Jr. Furthermore, there have also been questions of whether it is a good idea to take the fight after a 2-year long layoff.

Pacquiao himself has confirmed he is undeterred by the idea of ring-rust. Furthermore, Lopez confirmed that the rest would work in his favor. And given the styles of both fighters, the lightweight champion is right in saying the event will be exciting.
