The sturdy young gun, Gervonta Davis is all set to take on Mario Barrios on Saturday night for the WBA super-lightweight championship. This will be Davis’ first fight at the 140-pound weight class and over the past few months, he’s put in a cosmic amount of hard work for the same.

Many boxing pundits and bigwigs have wished Davis good luck for his fight. ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson, too, added himself on that list recently. Taking it to his official Instagram handle, Tyson shared some words of wisdom for ‘Tank’.

He said, “I think Gervonta Davis is probably the greatest fighter around now. But he got a tough fight coming up. He’s at the top, no doubt about it. He showed that, but Barrios is a pretty good fighter.”

Tyson and Davis share a great bond with each other. The Maryland native idolizes ‘Iron’ Mike and wishes to be like him someday. That said, as he has progressed, Davis has challenged himself to uncover his best version inside the squared circle.

And in his 12-round war against Barrios, ‘Tank’ will only look to employ his A-game.

This is unquestionably the toughest test for Davis because ‘El Azteca’ holds some prolific skill sets under his wing. And with that, the latter has the ability to hammer any and every opponent in front of him. Citing that, Davis has a job in hand, and accordingly the world is keen to see what he does inside the ring.

‘Tank’ is one of the most stylistic fighters on the planet. With that approach, he’s battered every opponent he’s faced.

This is why his boxing resume has 24 wins, out of which a whopping 23 have arrived via T/KO.

That said, he has every skill set in the bag to overpower Barrios. But it won’t be so easy for him to attain a T/KO win. Hence, it’ll be interesting to see how he presents himself in this fight.
