2024 has been a year full of controversies and disappointments for boxing star Ryan Garcia. The 25-year-old often lands himself into banters with people from inside the boxing fraternity and from outside as well. This time, he engaged in a protracted online conversation with Ishe Smith, a former IBF super welterweight champion. And it seems like it didn’t go the way Ryan thought it would go. From taunting one another to making serious jokes, the banter turned into a heated exchange, and threats and then turned into a conversation on serious topics like religion and truthfulness.

‘KingRy’ has been criticized for his social media antics of late. Of the several people criticizing him, Ishe Smith, who was once promoted by Floyd Mayweather in his heyday also took a jab at the young boxer. See what transpired between Garcia and Smith in their heated argument online.

Garcia and the 45-year-old former boxer have been mocking each other for quite a while now, trading barbs. The debate became even more heated when the two ended up on Ryan Garcia’s Spaces on X. The Victorville native made crude remarks about Smith’s mother and wife in an attempt to ridicule him. The former champ then urged Garcia to stop blaming others and advised him not to boast about his religiousness if he wanted to continue making immoral comments about sleeping with someone’s wife online.

Smith recounted how Garcia initially accused Victor Conte for Garcia’s PED findings after which he then blamed it on his own coach Scooter. Moreover, Garcia even lashed out at Zab Judah. However, after a face-to-face conversation with Judah, Garcia apologized to the veteran boxer for dragging his name in needlessly. Furthermore, Jordan Plant, the wife of Caleb Plant, is now allegedly suing Garcia for disparaging her on social media. While mentioning all these cases caused by Garcia’s overzealousness, Smith urged, “Bro just take accountability, so ‘You know what, I f**ked up, my bad. I took a bad supplement’, it is what it is.”

According to Ishe Smith, Garcia’s inability to accept his mistakes is leading him to make more errors and causing him to blame his misfortunes on others while lashing out at random people on the internet. After receiving a thorough rebuttal from Ishe Smith, which Garcia likely expected to be just another trolling session, KingRy fell silent toward the end of the conversation and soon ended the audio chat on X. Shortly after, Ishe Smith quickly took to X and tweeted, “He ended it bc it got to truthful him. Being a Christian is everyday work. I’m not perfect, I’m also not that saved where you play with me I’m not gonna speak on it.”

However, ‘KingRy’ then went on to throw another barb at Ishe Smith and wrote, “How much you make in your career that’s right non your broke and your wife knows it.” It is getting a bit too much for the young boxer as he has landed himself in so many controversies and lawsuits in just the past few months. However, he has decided to not pay attention to these “low-lifes” who are suing him.

A string of lawsuits and losing money

The biggest blow that Garcia experienced was when NYSAC declared that his fight with Devin Haney was ruled as no-contest given Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug, ostarine. He had to pay an extra $10,000 besides the $1.2 million penalty for the fight purse. Haney’s fight record is unblemished again. That said, Devin Haney had stated that he was going to sue Garcia since the whole fight incident had hurt his image and he was not receiving high-profile paychecks as he did before. However, there have been indications that this will be resolved out of court.

Then there is the lawsuit that Caleb Plant’s wife is reported to have filed against the boxer. Filled with frustration over his endless legal troubles, Garcia announced he was going to counter-sue Caleb Plant for assault during a recent confrontation. Therefore, Ryan Garcia has a lot on his plate right now with all that is going on. Despite his one-year boxing ban, his supporters are hopeful he will make the most of this opportunity to return to the top of the rankings next year.
