Last year was not the best one for British boxer Conor Benn, who was shrouded in controversy. The 26-year-old tested positive for a banned substance, leading his highly anticipated fight against Chris Eubank Jr. to get called off. However, Benn has recently been cleared by the WBC after his explanation for the banned substance found in his system was accepted by the governing body.
This had caused Benn to even hint at a matchup with former eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao. However, it now seems that ‘The Destroyer’ is now ready to face a former rival in Kelly Brook. Both Brook and Benn were training partners ahead of the former’s bout against Amir Khan. The two also took part in a sparring session, which became the topic of their current back-and-forth.

In a thread shared by EverythingBoxing, it was revealed that Brook would be interested in making a comeback to boxing. Moreover, ‘The Special One’s coach Dominic Ingle revealed that he was interested in facing Benn. In addition, Benn also had a few words for Brook as he responded to this news.

Benn was not shy about taking shots at his rival and stated that the last time they tried to make this fight, Brook left the sport. He also brought up the sparring session from 3 years back and claimed that it must have affected Brook. “Last time we tried to make the fight he chose retirement instead. Must have been that sparring session…” he wrote.

However, Brook had a fiery response as well, claiming that Benn was the one who cut the session short. “who are you kidding your the one who cut the sparring short don’t flatter yourself pu*sy.” Brook wrote.

The 26-year-old would counter this argument by claiming that the footage showed who was the superior fighter. “Stop talking sh*t. You know the footage begs to differ!” Benn wrote.

Brook has not yet responded to this, but this might be the star of rivalry that could culminate in a great fight. However, for the time being, Benn might also look for other options to make his comeback into the sport.

With Benn now cleared, he will look to put his past behind him and move forward with his career. However, this will not be an easy task as Benn’s mental state after the drug test was not in the best of places. Despite this, he should be motivated to prove that he belongs inside the squared circle.
