With the April 16th win over Cuban Yordenis Ugas, Errol Spence Jr. defended his IBF welterweight title for the sixth time, his WBC title for the third time, and got himself decorated with a fresh one, WBA super welterweight title.
The prolific boxer stands first among the active welterweights of the world per The Ring magazine. Known for his sheer aggression, strength, and ring IQ, the southpaw boasts a knock-out-to-win rate of 78%. The Texan, outside the ring, frequently grabs the headline for the on-and-off talks of a fight against arc rival Terence Crawford. But, with the hopes of what many fans consider a classic bout diminishing, Spence Jr’s name appears for an altogether forlorn matter. Since 2019, three road accidents involving Errol kept the fans on tenterhooks. According to reports, the injuries suffered during the December accident might keep him from active participation. But a deleted tweet from the champion is fast gaining traction for the comments he made.
