After Canelo Alvarez defended his super-middleweight undisputed status against John Ryder on the 6th of May, Jermell Charlo called out the Mexican boxer suggesting an “Undisputed vs. Undisputed” bout. While Charlo, who has not fought in a year, looked forward to returning against Canelo, the latter declared he would rematch Dmitry Bivol in light-heavyweight with the same terms as the previous fight. However, Bivol is not interested in fighting Canelo again at 174 lbs. Reportedly, the WBC would not sanction Bivol vs. Alvarez either due to the situation involving Russia and Ukraine.

While under the present circumstances, Alvarez cannot fight Bivol in a rematch, reportedly the Mexican boxer is very close to locking horns with Jermell Charlo next inside the ring. Recently, Elie Seckbach from ESNEWS reported, Alvarez “maybe fighting 32-0 Jermell Charlo next“. Additionally, Seckbach informed that NBA star Monte Moris is “one of the reasons this fight is happening“.

As per Seckbach’s statements, Monte Moris helped the reporter get in touch with Charlo. Speaking to Charlo, Moris understood the undisputed super-welterweight champion wanted to face Alvarez next. Having received the statements from Charlo, Sekhbach interviewed the likes of Mauricio Sulaiman and Stephen Espinoza regarding the matter. He now feels Alvarez is close to fighting Charlo who called him out immediately after his victory against Ryder.

One user stated, “Canelo haters will say he cherry-picked Charlo 😂😂😂😂“. Meanwhile, one claimed that “people find any reason to hate Canelo“. In addition, they said, “Benavidez already had a fight scheduled. Dudes are never satisfied.”

On the other hand, One user believes Alvarez should fight David Benavidez next. “He needs to fight the Mexican monster 🤦🏽,” they added. However, another user believes Canelo would “fight Badou Jack” next. Meanwhile, one user added, “Bivol didn’t agree with Canelo’s terms. Canelo didn’t want to lose his belts. Same reason he’s ducking Benavides.

Anyway, in the brief clip Seckbach uploaded, Canelo is heard saying he feels his best at 168 lbs. In this connection, it is worth mentioning that Charlo fights at 154 lbs. Hence, either Alvarez would have to lose 14 lbs or Charlo would need to gain 14 lbs extra to make the fight happen.
