Defying all expectations and proving all the naysayers wrong, Francis Ngannou put on a show of a lifetime. However, his excellent show of performance wasn’t enough to end Tyson Fury’s dominance over the heavyweight division. The ‘Gypsy King’ was crowned the champion, which resulted in most of the boxing community labeling the fight “robbery.” With a similar sentiment, Jorge Masvidal made scathing remarks about judging fights in boxing while commending Ngannou.

Jorge Masvidal is a former mixed martial artist who mainly featured in the UFC. Before the fight transpired last Saturday night, Masvidal was one of the experts who voted against Ngannou having a chance against Fury. However, that opinion made a 180 after Ngannou proved his boxing skills inside the ring against the WBC Heavyweight champion. While appearing in an interview with Fight Hub TV, Masvidal expressed his amazement over Francis’ surprising performance against Fury.

While talking about Ngannou’s performance, Masvidal confessed he was one of the people who voted against Ngannou winning the fight but was amazed by Ngannou’s performance. “I was one of the guys that think he wouldn’t get past. But he made it 12 rounds. People don’t understand the monument that in itself is,” said Masvidal. He even commended the former UFC champion for performing so well in a sport that he has never fought in.

“Taking away that he dropped him, he hurt him…he walked him down numerous times…he had the champion in his back foot,” said Masvidal. Citing those as the reason, Masvidal asserted that in his eyes, Ngannou won the fight. “To me, Francis won…on a moral level, on street level, on many levels,” said Masvidal. He went on to throw some shade at the judging system established in the sport while suggesting Ngannou can box. “Credibility is, you know, judging, and boxing has always been very shady…he [Ngannou] could box, man,” said Masvidal.

Francis Ngannou wants Oleksandr Usyk to make way

After Ngannou’s clash with Fury last Saturday night, Oleksandr Usyk will face Tyson Fury sometime in December or January next year. However, seemingly, Ngannou isn’t done with Fury yet. He is determined to get his revenge on Tyson Fury because he thought he won the last Saturday night.

While appearing in an interview with TMZSports, Ngannou asserted he wants a rematch with Tyson Fury. “I would go for the rematch first. My best scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury,” said ‘The Predator.’ He went on to suggest if Usyk gets out of the way and lets him fight Fury, he is ready to do that. “If Usyk can step out and let me fight Fury, I’ll fight Fury. Then I’ll let them do whatever they do,” said Ngannou.
